materials and welds has many advantages over other NDT techniques. Using our Surface scan units we are able to complete non-contact inspections, paint coatings do not have to be removed in order to inspect. Unlike ultrasonic techniques no couplant is required, and unlike LPI and MPI no chemical materials are required. Surface scan also lends itself to rope access inspections as the unit is operable with one hand. The eddy current method has consistently proved its effectiveness by offering a high flaw detection rate, reducing inspection costs and downtime. Minimal surface preparation and a lack of consumables makes it an extremely efficient and cost effective tool for inspection. Currently we use surface scan extensivly on weldments, pipe, and compressor bottles. The maximum measureable flaw depth is 5mm with existing probes. |
